Why Journal

Journaling can be tailored to fit your goals, and what you want to get out of it. I’ve developed a variety of prompts that have helped me:

  • Consciously change my mindset
  • Come out of a malaise
  • Consistently work towards my goals
  • Stick to my resolutions
  • Seek beauty, joy, and opportunity in my life
  • Develop new habits or traits
  • Serve as a reminder to make time for what is important and should be prioritized in your life

Since each prompt is designed for a specific purpose, I have written an in-depth explanation of each prompt, and will strive to continue to do so as I experiment and discover other prompts that I will publish here.

I found that journaling daily, even for just a few minutes in the morning, and a few minutes at night, changed my mindset and habits more effectively than anything else I’ve tried because it kept me accountable to myself. It served as a daily reminder to work on something specific, and then served as a small way to recognize actions I took that helped me to meet my goal, and feel accomplished every day. Since people do best when they are focused on a few key goals at a time, I recommend that you only pick a few prompts, and work on journaling a response to them every day for at least a few months.

You will generally find what you seek in life, and journaling can serve as a reminder to seek what’s good and should be worked towards, instead of relying on every whim or circumstance to dictate your day, or control the direction of your life.
